If the appraisal says “too high”
Start again at the package, before adding any value for a Deluxe or other special feature. In one player discussion about Deluxe Ribwiches, replies point first to torn wrapping and a missed counterfeit clue. One player said the magnifying glass itself made torn packaging easy to miss; move it aside and inspect every edge of the wrapper. This is a player-reported troubleshooting lead, not a confirmed Demo rule.
Check the item in this order
- Wrapper: use the magnifying glass, then move it away and inspect the entire seal and edges for a tear or opening. Do not assume a clean-looking center means the package is intact.
- Deluxe clues: the discussion reply says Deluxe means two layers of pickles, not double meat. The original poster then corrected their description from “double meat” to “double pickles.” Treat this as a player-reported correction; compare the sandwich with the Ribwich Appraisal Guide in your current Demo before counting the feature. Sesame seeds are mentioned in the original report, but the thread does not establish that they alone prove Deluxe status.
- Production date: read the full date and compare it with the date ranges in the in-game guide. One player report describes a date between two production runs as the missed clue. Another Playtest report says a single-digit month without a leading zero was accepted by a customer. Those reports do not settle the current Demo rule, so do not mark an item counterfeit from formatting alone.
- Facility number: match the printed number to the facility table in the current in-game guide. Do not infer quality from a number found in an online list: an August discussion includes conflicting claims about facility classifications, and no developer correction was found in the sources checked here.
- Logos and other authenticity marks: compare the Davre/DA mark and sandwich logo with the examples and wording in your in-game guide. A checked logo does not rule out a torn wrapper or another failed check.
- Value last: only after the package and every authenticity check pass should you add any Deluxe or quality value described by the current guide. This is a troubleshooting order, not a complete price formula.
For close inspection, move the magnifying glass off the package rather than letting the tool cover the detail you are checking. If the customer still says the offer is too high, do not keep guessing at a higher-value bonus: recheck the wrapper, then the exact date and facility against the current guide.
What the reported “40” means
One reply in the Deluxe discussion suggests trying 40 Credits after suspecting a torn package. That is one player's suggestion, not a verified correct price, a universal counterfeit value, or a result reproduced on the current Demo. Do not use it as a guaranteed answer. The thread's original poster did not report a later successful appraisal.
Record a mismatch before calling it a bug
If the same item still fails after you follow its in-game guide, record the evidence before changing more assumptions:
- the game's displayed build or version and whether this is the Demo;
- the exact item label and visible Deluxe clues;
- the full production date, facility number, logos, and every guide check you marked;
- whether the wrapper looked torn, including a second look with the magnifying glass moved aside;
- the exact price submitted and the customer's exact response;
- a screenshot of the package and the appraisal result, if you can capture both without obscuring either.
Compare another item only when it matches the same Deluxe clues and authenticity details. Keep the observed result separate from your explanation: a repeated mismatch is useful evidence, but one outcome does not identify whether the cause is a hidden clue, an incomplete guide, or a Demo bug.
